Melting March 11 march 11th. since then everything has changed. before that we were innocent and lived as if nuclear power stations would never have accidents. the rumble, the roar, escaping steam, the explosion. how far does the radiation spread? plutonium reigns for a thousand ages until small pebbles are forged into huge rocks and moss grows over them all (these lines are based on the Japanese national anthem) once upon a time there was a country called Japan the mountains and the sea were beautiful there one day there was an earthquake and a nuclear power station exploded the leaders said "don't worry, we will not be affected". the TV said the same. so the children played outside.

Ama no Uta life born and nurtured rock crumbled to sand the morning comes on the horizon when wave crests begin to shine women shellfish divers gather and row their coracles out to sea.

Citizen Crow they say the metropolitan crow has deep black feathers like a Japanese woman's glossy hair she gathers any shining object to decorate her nest a skillful craftswoman she is she flies a valley of buildings and swiftly crosses a grey forest in ancient times, American Indians saw her as the god of wisdom she infiltrates into the habitat marked 'for mankind only' she is loud and clever and disliked I hope she survives

Spring Snow spring snow freezes blossoms today’s morning sickness is more severe I am out of place like this spring snow I shiver and pull the zip right up on my denim jacket so my breast is squeezed I take two trains and find myself on the platform at an unfamiliar station I will use the usual false name at the surgery hidden in the alley I have a business-like conversation with a middle-aged female doctor that is the only comfort she can give to me

Tokyo Demonstration Yamanote circle line tour. first station is Ueno in the direction of Shinjuku at Shinokubo I get off for some Korean food and I check out a gig, but the band is a shambles back on the train to go to Shibuya in Shibuya near the 109 shopping complex I'm stopped by the police "hey, empty your pockets, do you have I.D? what's your address?" at the next corner the police stop me again I've had enough of this at the top of the slope I see the anti-nuclear demonstration I walk along with the crowd and I join in I shout and I sing out

Yasha the box where the mirror demon is kept, opens she is raging in the darkness rain fall, the sky is torn and the land corrupted but I feel alive in this moment I stabbed you with the sharpest knife instead of giving you gentle words the blood dripping was not yours, but mine I stripped off the demon's mask to find only a naked girl squatting the demon becomes a monster the monster becomes a difficult neighbour then she becomes a friend the friend becomes a horse and I ride across the sky my hands grip the reins and I grasp at stars

Stiletto one drop, two drops of rain no breeze comes through this alley cigarette ends stained with red lipstick on the cobbles the plunging cut of my satin dress reveals cleavage but my soul is sealed tightly inside the sound of stiletto heels echo it is too late to regret the value of my dignity is one glass of beer here is a back alley, the end of world the sound of stiletto heels echo

Vacuum City I crumple the page of a notebook on which I wrote the web address of the suicide site I face the coming morning beyond this tunnel, is it blue sky or darkness? where can I lay down my empty body? let yesterday's pain go let tomorrow's fear be buried here I drag my tired leg to move just one more step forward I stare at the road ahead abandon my name abandon my address abandon my old self
