Dear Listener,

It isn't easy to accompany divorce on keyboards, to sleep away loping weekends, to mate on stairs, dance out of time, roll tender confessions into cigarettes—but here—crammed before you on this collection is the gamut: sentimental orchestrations, paranoid pseudonyms, nautical arrangements, impractical promises made by vehement people with percussive lives. Yet who is the bon vivant responsible? What is his origin? The source of his scandal? What do we know for certain?
A fractured Brighton story, unsolicited propositions, no knack for promotion, marries a Spaniard, still the same black jacket, like an extra in a lavish domestic thriller: The Brixton Squealer. Specializing in conspicuous consumption. Known for novelty side projects and incautiously overlooking the facts. Ignored by many, to others immaterial...and then details become ephemeral, sparse, memories deteriorate, blurry encounters lost in song...But I assure you he is living a clement stylized existence, plaintive lip to the lager, begrudging voice of a thankless nation...
Now take this rare chance to shimmy offshore with Robert Storey, explore his remote archipelago, tour his lament, not jealous but hurt, up a flight, down a register. Lower this time. Where he promised. Hear his mist green compositions. Know romantic love. Route your passage this way. Call in sick. Abandon your folly. Join Killorglin. That duplicitous crooner. International Rob.
Break away with the he-goat, lose touch with the herd. Trust his accomplices. Let them thwart your agenda. For at last, unafraid to make these songs available after years languishing in a grotto (which must never be discovered), one of the capable few has finally agreed to cull his varied catalog in a confused attempt to reveal secrets and gain recognition. It is therefore my great honor to present—
Accomplished paradox.
